Chapter One

Harriet Inglii just moved from busy Bridgeport to the sunny Barnacle Bay to get a career since losing her job in Bridgeport. She never even said goodbye to her mother or the rest of her family. She wanted to just get away.
She grabbed all her belongings, took all the money from her savings account, got on the first plane to Barnacle Bay and never looked back.

She had been planning this move for a while now and had already got herself a small home in 428 Tidal Terrace, Barnacle Bay.
When she arrived there the house that was made by her contractors was simply beautiful. It was a fairly cheap home and was decorated with great modern interior; just as she had asked.

Taking in the beautiful vista, she decided there was no time like the present to look for work and get her life on track. She decided to look through the local Barni News to search for a profession. She didn't care which one, any would do fine until she was stable and could start her own business.
Scrolling through the news made her contemplate. In every page there was talk of house prices at an all time low, and unemployment at an all time high. She went into deep thought about whether she could really handle moving into another unstable environment.
Then she scrolled to page 59.
She had finished skimming through that page and was about to turn over when she saw an ad.

This was exactly what she needed!  A creative profession which she had always dreamt of!  She decided to call them immediately and had her fingers crossed that the job wasn't taken. Her savings would only last her for a while.
“Hello is this Barnacle Bay Salon?”
“Why yes it is Madame. What may I do for you? Would you like to book an appointment?”
”Uhm, no not exactly...I was looking through Barni News and stumbled upon an ad regarding a vacancy in your salon.”
”Oh! Why didn’t you say so? We’ve been so stressed lately about the lack of applicants for the stylist job we’ve even been thinking of just shutting down!”
“Oh no, that would be terrible!”
“As you can tell, the position is still available, so would you like to come down here and have a quick chat with us about the vacancy?”
“Yes! That would be wonderful! Just let me know when and where and I’ll be there!”
“Uhm... How about tomorrow at around 9am. We can discuss your experience in the area amongst other things. Oh, and don’t forget to bring your papers with you. Last week we had an amazing stylist except she forgot her papers and we couldn’t give her the job!”
"Oh no that’s terrible! Well, I’ll be there at 9! Thanks so much for this opportunity miss..Uhm sorry I forgot to ask your name!”
“That’s ok! I’m Gemma the manager and Receptionist of the Salon.”
“Ok, Well once again thank you ever so much Gemma! Bye!”
“See you tomorrow, bye!”

Harriet was so excited! Only 1 hour had gone past and she already had a job interview lined up! Things were really starting to look up for her! Feeling good about herself she went to the kitchen and started to prepare a nice bowl of Mac and Cheese to celebrate a good first day.
Once again she caught herself thinking about her old life in Bridgeport. Things there were soo hectic. She just hoped that in Barnacle Bay things would be peaceful and calm. She knew she was lying to herself in believing that but it gave her comfort, and that was all she needed right now.
She added some salt to her food, and poured it on to a bowl to eat.
Life really seems to be calm around here. I've only been here for a day but so far so good! I remember how much living in Bridgeport used to stress me out. All of that nightlife really got to me. I just needed to get away from all of my family and start anew. Especially since I lost my old job.
Harriet loved the silence in the house, and relished in the thought of waking up to this every morning. She took a nice hot shower to relax a little more.
Badoom boom badoom bam boom..
Damn I could soo get used to this!

Going to her room after showering, she jumped into her nice new bed!

Closing her eyes for the first time in Barnacle Bay, Harriet couldn't help but think life was too good to be true right now!
Oh, if only Harriet knew how right she was to think that!
